How to boost your job search?

With the progressive saturation of the job market, it is increasingly difficult to find work these days. However, there are effective ways to boost your job search, and thus increase your chances of being hired in a structure, whether public or private. Here are some of the most convincing solutions in this context!

Using a network

Networking is currently the second most used channel by recruiters when it comes to filling executive positions, and is in fact one of the most effective tools for finding an interesting job offer in a short time. Three key steps are necessary to boost your job search using a network.

The first is identification: to do this, the person concerned must list the people they know and with whom they have good contact. This involves members of their social, professional, and personal environment (friends, family, etc.). This phase allows you to define the direct network, which will then be expanded through contacts with acquaintances. The next step is to define professional objectives and specify the type of information you wish to obtain according to the profession (architect, accountant, teacher, etc.), then inform your contacts of your job search.

The last step is obtaining network interviews, which refer to any contact with people in the indirect network. At this level, it is recommended not to directly mention the search for a job offer as the subject of contact with the potential job provider. The possibility of being referred to the human resources department or being told that there is no position to fill is indeed one of the major risks associated with the direct and honest approach.

So, to maximize your chances, it is best not to directly mention your job search as a subject when contacting members of the indirect network. Instead, you should simply make a good impression and make the person want to recruit, even if there is no position corresponding to the job seeker’s skills at the moment: such a position could always be created in the future!

So don’t hesitate to ask if the skills you have as an architect, journalist, graphic designer, doctor, etc. could be of interest to the company, or possibly other knowledge of the potential job provider. Speaking of medicine.

Organize your CV in a more attractive way

In the absence of using a network, other effective means can be used to boost a job search, namely improving the Curriculum Vitae (CV). How to go about it in this context?

First of all, to increase your chances of finding a job offer, it is important to replace the classic statement of objectives with a more enticing title at the top of the CV. Also be careful not to confuse civil status and statement of objectives, by unnecessarily flooding the part reserved for it with general information!

Furthermore, whatever the position sought (architect, developer, stylist, health worker, etc.), you must think about “cleaning up” the CV to be presented, by removing irrelevant experiences, without any obvious link to the desired position. For a dynamic job search, only relevant experiences should be retained.
